In the immortal words of Pepeddard Stark, “Brace yourselves, PEPEFREEZE is coming!”

Mike, [25.10.16 06:27]
****PEPE UPDATE***

300 Pepes have been made. At 500 Pepe’s (series 10) there will be a pause in submissions. Maybe directory will stay closed forever to preserve rareness and to work on other pepe projecs. Or maybe open up again to go to 1000 Pepes depending on what the community says. Decentralizing the directory hosting would be nice if possible. Only submit your best pepe’s and only one submission allowed per person per day.

***End Pepe Update***

With these fateful words, a shudder rippled through the Rare Pepe Card Creator community.

It was now a race against time to see who could rack up the most Rare Pepe cards in the Directory.

Whoever holds the record of the most Rare Pepe’s certified when the directory gets to 500 will win themselves the princely sum of 20,000 RAREPEPENEWS.

The Great Rare Pepe Production Race is on!

More than 48 hours after the shock announcement, at least one card creator was blissfully unaware of the plan to freeze submissions at 500 Rare Pepe’s.

Here’s how that was revealed in the Rare Pepe Blockchain Trading Group

Bradley Hughes, [27.10.16 01:04]
Attention Rare Pepe Card Creators!!

After what seems like an aeon, eternity, epoche or other arbitrarily incomprehensible span of time, I have finally got those card creator interview questions posted.

All interviews will be published as drafts for review within a day of being submitted. I will email you a password protected link to the interview post for you to review before publication.

Every card you submit in the interview will have a Cards profile post created for it, linked to your interview.

This will raise your profile as a card creator and help people to find other cards of yours if they have one they already like.

How offended will you be if I use a pseudonym for my name

Bradley Hughes, [27.10.16 01:06]
Please put your name in as Feels Goodman if you don’t wish to use your real name. We are all Feels Goodman.

MyDearD, [27.10.16 01:07]
ah that’s good

MyDearD, [27.10.16 01:07]
… goodman

MyDearD, [27.10.16 01:08]
WOW that’s a lotta questions

MyDearD, [27.10.16 01:08]
Also what do you mean 500 card cap

MyDearD, [27.10.16 01:09]
Do you mean issuance or a total on the number of pepes that are ever released?

cr-mn, [27.10.16 01:09]
wow 2000 rarepepenews !!

cr-mn, [27.10.16 01:09]
awesome

MyDearD, [27.10.16 01:09]
[In reply to Bradley Hughes]
>cap question

Nebu, [27.10.16 01:09]
[In reply to Helene Unland]
done!

Bradley Hughes, [27.10.16 01:09]
Treat it as a smorgasbord, answer what you like and leave the rest. The 500 cap refers to the 500 card pause… number of Pepes proposed to pause.

MyDearD, [27.10.16 01:09]
[In reply to Bradley Hughes]
Wasn’t aware of a pause

Bradley Hughes, [27.10.16 01:10]
ah, gotta keep up! Admittedly I haven’t got around to posting that news on the site yet 🙂

MyDearD, [27.10.16 01:10]
Alright

MyDearD, [27.10.16 01:10]
well

MyDearD, [27.10.16 01:10]
my honest opinion is that’s only a bandaid solution

Bradley Hughes, [27.10.16 01:10]
Mike announced it yesterday I think

MyDearD, [27.10.16 01:10]
temporary at best

MyDearD, [27.10.16 01:10]
What you really need is a way to sort quality pepes from the shit

MyDearD, [27.10.16 01:10]
like some kind of ranking

Bradley Hughes, [27.10.16 01:11]
hence the question, I’m keen to hear from all the card creators, then Mike and the others can review as well, a good way to collect all input

Bradley Hughes, [27.10.16 01:11]
here it’ll get lost in the noise

Bradley Hughes, [27.10.16 01:11]
Maybe cards that don’t trade / change hands enough eventually get dropped

Bradley Hughes, [27.10.16 01:12]
liquidity is the ultimate test of popularity?

MyDearD, [27.10.16 01:12]
hmm

Bradley Hughes, [27.10.16 01:12]
although that can be gamed of course

MyDearD, [27.10.16 01:12]
yeah

Bradley Hughes, [27.10.16 01:12]
otherwise a voting system… hard to think of a system that can’t be gamed

MyDearD, [27.10.16 01:12]
yeah

Bradley Hughes, [27.10.16 01:12]
so I’m hoping we’ll get some creative ideas

MyDearD, [27.10.16 01:12]
it’s a tough problem

MyDearD, [27.10.16 01:13]
you could try something like

MyDearD, [27.10.16 01:14]
only creators can vote, creators cannot vote for their own cards, and they only get a vote for every card created?

Mike, [27.10.16 01:14]
yeah i thought about that

Mike, [27.10.16 01:14]
you have to vote from your address that you created your card from

Mike, [27.10.16 01:14]
people in directory pick what comes next

MyDearD, [27.10.16 01:15]
it’s not perfect but it’s better than the other options I can think of

Mike, [27.10.16 01:15]
i do not like being a judge that is for sure 🙂

MyDearD, [27.10.16 01:15]
Yeah no offense but you need to find a way to open source it

MyDearD, [27.10.16 01:15]
takes the pressure off of you and stuff

MyDearD, [27.10.16 01:16]
The only issue is gaming the system again

MyDearD, [27.10.16 01:16]
like submitting a bunch of garbage cards to get more votes

Joposhi Hartomato, [27.10.16 01:22]

👍😂

For those who have read through to the end here and are paying attention, what are your thoughts on freezing the Rare Pepe Directory at 500 Rare Pepe’s?

How can the Rare Pepe Foundation balance the need to ensure the highest quality of Rare, Dank Pepe’s, while still fulfilling the creative urges of all those yet to discover the immense pleasure of creating their very own Certified Rare Pepe?

The first 20 people to Comment with their opinion on this, including their wallet address, will receive the PEPEFREEZE Rare Pepe, created exclusively to commemorate this happening.
